The Cancer Prevention Grants Scheme
The health of Hartlepool residents is improving. On average they are living healthier and longer lives; however, they still suffer more ill health and disability, higher death rates from diseases such as cancer, heart disease and respiratory disease and live shorter lives than in most other parts of the country.
Government health policy is placing a greater emphasis on the prevention of ill-health and addressing health inequalities. To that end, NHS Hartlepool has set aside funding for small projects which address the following priorities:
Increasing awareness of cancer signs and symptoms
Promoting early presentation of cancer signs and symptoms to GP Practices
Increasing earlier diagnosis of cancer
Increasing awareness of cancer screening programmes
Increasing access into Primary Care with signs and symptoms of cancer
Grants of up to £1,000 are available.
